Children and Nature

As an alternative to the swimming pool or the sea, there is the possibility of visiting splendid natural parks such as the WWF Oasis and the Uccellina Park.

The WWF Oasis, located in the Argentario area, more precisely in Orbetello, offers various itineraries: the first, the Bosco di Patanella path, is a path of about 1km surrounded by pine trees and lagoon.

During this route it is possible to observe animals such as egrets, herons, cormorants and flamingos but they are not … also curlews or fisherman marlin. Children will especially enjoy the observation huts that will make them feel like real explorers.

Continuing, we pass to the second path from where it will be possible to observe the pink flamingos, currently protected by the WWF.

A third path from Casale di Giannella, also home to the WWF, leads via another small path to visit the “butterfly garden” which shows the natural environments on the wetlands.

The Parco dell’Uccellina, also known as “Parco della Maremma”, overlooks the Tuscan Archipelago Park and the Tyrrhenian Sea with a completely hilly 25 km route up to the splendid sandy beaches.

The Park is surrounded by pine forests, marshes and fields full of crops, where Maremma horses are bred, hares and hedgehogs, foxes and badgers, porcupines and wild boars live as well as many varieties of birds.

In addition to a vast nature, the park also has numerous historical-artistic testimonies from various eras such as the Abbey of San Rabano, a Romanesque monastery founded in the 11th century by the Benedictines.
