A green oasis to discover on foot, on horseback or by bike
The Maremma Natural Park extends over 9,000 hectares between the village of Principina a Mare and the historic village of Talamone.
It is a territory of unique charm where nature reigns. Wild and lush, here the typical Mediterranean vegetation of the Tuscan coast harmoniously coexists with the domestic environment created by man over the centuries. A special and very delicate balance.
The Natural Park of the Maremma is attentive to the conservation of the local biodiversity both animal and vegetable. The park’s goal is to protect and enhance the natural environments inside: from the plains of the butteri to the Uccellina Mountains, from the sandy beaches to the coastal pine forests.

Panoramas in the Maremma Natural Park
Going to the top of the hills or headlands that protrude from the coast towards the sea you have the opportunity to admire breathtaking landscapes. The gaze is free to wander and to recognize the plains and marshes, the villages and the beaches.
Along the coast there are also several fortifications dating back to the Middle Ages, Renaissance or Grand Duchy. These high surveillance towers were used to control maritime traffic and defend the nearest villages in the event of an attack by Mediterranean pirates.
