Healthy walkings on the Walls of Grosseto
Every Thursday at 3:15 pm, meeting in Piazza Dante to go around the Bastions of the Walls with a UISP guide.
Participation is free. It is necessary to sign the UISP card in order to take advantage of the insurance coverage.
April 28th 2018: Culture Walk
The walls, the terraces, the troniere, the Baluardo del Cinghialino. Meeting in Piazza Dante at 10:00.
The walks organized by UISP are ideal for exploring the city. They allow you to see the historic center from a unique point of view, definitely more fascinating and curious. These are very simple walks, not very demanding and therefore suitable for everyone.
The current Walls of Grosseto date back to the sixteenth century and completely surround the historic center. The city is one of the few in Europe to have such ancient walls and in good condition. In Tuscany the only one able to compete in this sense is Lucca.
The “Walking on the Walls” UISP initiative wants to encourage tourists and locals to experience Grosseto and discover curious facts about its history, its folklore and its traditions. These are not real guided tours but social walks: a group of people who meet to admire the view and get closer to the story.
